What No One Tells Parents About the Dating App CrossPaths

CrossPaths Dating AppWHAT NO ONE TELLS PARENTS ABOUT THE DATING APP CROSSPATHS

Dating apps are popular. In fact, there are now niche dating apps. Christian dating apps are hitting app stores and trying to pick up enough users to compete with larger, well-known ones like Tinder and Plenty of Fish.

CrossPaths is just one of a handful of Christian dating apps. Interestingly, they are owned by Spark Network. You might not know the name Spark Network, but chances are you’ve heard of one of the websites in their portfolio, Christian Mingle.

So, let’s look at CrossPaths and see how this dating app compares to others in my Dating App Series.

In-App Purchases: Yes
Contains Ads: No

CrossPaths is available only as an app. There is no website version. Registration on the CrossPaths app is as simple as linking your Facebook account. The app gathers your personal information and images from your Facebook account to verify new accounts and ensure new user accounts are authentic.

One thing that makes this app a bit different from other dating apps is they ask new users to answer the question How Would You Describe Your Faith by select one of five options.

Users can customize their profile by adding additional details like height and weight. CrossPaths also offers an “About Me” section where users can add a 1,000-word bio. Users can also delete any of the images uploaded from their Facebook profile during the initial set up process. And, users can add additional images to their profile.

In addition to Facebook, users can link to their Instagram account.

CrossPaths is an easy dating app to use. There are really only 2 features: Discovery and Chat. Discovery is a list where users can view the profiles for other users based on the search parameters of both users. CrossPaths uses the swipe style approach. Both users must like each other to match. Once a match is made, users have 14 days to begin a conversation in the chat area.

CrossPaths does go beyond the app and sponsors occasional live social mixers in major cities.

CrossPaths is free. But like other dating apps, they offer a monthly subscription for premium upgrades. The upgrade gives users five daily “super likes” which presents their profile to those five users with priority placement.

What Teens Say

To be honest, none of the teens I’ve talked to have used or are interested in Christian dating apps. It’s not because they aren’t interested in dating apps, but it’s because they feel they won’t have any luck finding a match. Some of the teens I spoke with did say they hope CrossPaths and other faith-based dating apps grow in popularity, so they have a choice beyond what’s currently popular and trending when they head off to college.

What Parents Need to Know

CrossPaths is a Christian dating app marketed to those 18+. Their privacy policy is clear on this. And it includes the following:

Should we learn or be notified that we have collected information from users under the age of 18, we will immediately delete such personally identifiable information.

If you do find your underage teen is using this app, the privacy policy as stated should help you get the account removed.

CrossPaths is available for Apple and Android devices.
