Internet Safety and Social Media for Kids Hangout

Internet Safety and Social Media for Kids is a concern for many parents today. I’m always excited when I have to opportunity to talk about this issue. So I was thrilled to take part in the Kids, Social Media & Internet Safety for Homeschooling Families iHomeschoolNetwork Hangout this week. These hangouts take place every Thursday. They are a great way to connect with other parents to discuss issues relevant to homeschooling.

We discussed a number of issues regarding Internet Safety and Social Media for kids

A few points we covered were:

  1. Family approaches –internet filters, accountability programs, and self regulating ideas
  2. Discussions we need to have with our kids about online safety
  3. The need to consider the personality of our kids
  4. When considering screen time for kids look at what they are doing- Projects vs. Entertainment

You can view the hangout and even join the discussion.
